Favorite Camino Socks

Good grief, have we spent a small fortune finding our favorite socks for our Camino journeys! We are glad to share what we have learned from walking more miles than we can tally in different socks, and hopefully save you some money.

Well made hiking socks are not cheap, but you only need to buy a few pair. The general features to look for are good fit with zero bunching up or wrinkles, and wick-ability to keep your feet as dry as possible. If your feet are dry and comfortable, there is less chance of hot spots and blisters forming. Whichever sock you choose to pack for your trip, we recommend taking 3-4 pair. Plan on changing out your socks every couple of hours, or when you feel them damp from perspiration or weather. Fasten the damp socks on the outside of your pack to dry as you walk another couple of hours. Then repeat.

Among our team we use crew style or low quarter socks depending on personal preference and the season we are walking in, but we choose from the five favorites we list here. In cooler or mixed temperatures our favorite socks are made by Fits. For a mix of temperatures like you will encounter in the Fall and Spring, we like the Fits lightweight crew, but they also make a heavier weight for colder temperatures, and a low quarter style for warmer temperatures. These socks are made in the USA, are a good blend of wool and nylon, and are designed to give you a bit of cushioning where you need it. But the excellent fit on any foot we know is the biggest benefit! They are engineered to fit you great without feeling tight, and without bunching.

The other sock we recommend highly is by Wrightsock. We like these best for hot weather like you will encounter in the Summer, as they are lighter weight and cooler. They are a wicking microfiber, double layer sock, designed to prevent blisters. They also fit great.

All of these items are available through our store from Amazon, and if you use the links here, you pay no more for the socks, but we make a small commission which we can use to support the volunteers helping pilgrims through non-profit groups along the Camino. Here is the link to all of our favorite socks for men and women: Fits Light Hiker Crew for Men, or Women; Fits Pro Trail Performance Quarter Sock; Wrightsock Men’s Coolmesh Quarter Socks; and Wrightsock Women’s Coolmesh Quarter Socks.
