The Camino Is the Walk of a Lifetime
We are surrounded by some fantastic gift ideas right now, and many of them are truly needed and valuable. When family asks for my “gift wish list” I am reminded of one of my Camino lessons, which has to do with possessions. For those who have already walked a Camino, you might have also discovered how little you really need when you carry it all on your back for several weeks. Relationships, self discovery, and devotion can give more meaning and enjoyment than anything material.
Though I have had opportunity to travel internationally and serve communities in need around the world, nothing can compare with my experiences of walking the Camino de Santiago beginning in 2007. The lessons and friends from my Caminos continue to shape my thinking and the way I live for the better, and birthed this whole new venture we call Camino Provisions to help others have this positive life experience.
If you are yearning for something you don’t even have language to express, consider planning a trip to walk the Camino this year, or soon. If you want to give someone special in your life a gift that will continue to give throughout his life, encourage him to walk the Camino.
So much awareness and personal discovery has come from my time on the Camino, I wrote a Guidebook to help others make their journeys sooner. Consider getting it for yourself, putting it on your wish list, or giving it as a gift to a favorite future pilgrim. The Camino de Santiago Guide to Preparing Well & Saving Money is a digital book full of tried and true advice and clickable links that can help you plan and complete the walk of a lifetime. It goes beyond maps and listings of albergues to answer the questions I had before my first Camino. At $9.99 it is an amazing value, and available through this link from Amazon, or through our website store.
